Brighton star Moises Caicedo fears ‘dream’ Arsenal FC move may never happen after rejected bids

Arsenal had been working to sign Caicedo in the final days of the January transfer window after Mikel Arteta decided to bolster his midfielder, only to see two bids worth up to £70million rejected. Chelsea were also denied.

Following the first rejected bid, Caicedo published a statement across his social media account asking the club to allow him to take up this “magnificent opportunity”, but Brighton owner Tony Bloom stood firm and the Ecuadorian stayed put.

Arsenal turned attentions to Jorginho, who arrived on deadline day, and now Caicedo’s agent has hit out at Brighton for denying his client a move that “may not be repeated”.

Majo Flores told Marca90: “The offers were received, you see what was on the table and Moises said he wanted to move forward [in his career], that it is the dream of his whole life, and an opportunity that may not be repeated in life.

“We then helped draft the statement [on social media].

He continued: “In that statement, he expressed his wish and his gratitude to the club because they gave him the chance to fulfill his dream of playing in the Premier League.

“We didn’t know what would happen tomorrow, maybe he trains and gets injured. We can’t know what’s going to happen.”

He added: “Moises asked the club for permission to publish the statement, he then did not train and missed the game [against Liveprool] because they decided to give him the weekend off.

“Brighton understand the situation and they love him very much. It was a consensual agreement.”
